Equipment Graphics
Open a piece of equipment's own controls graphic from inside Huckleberry, and what has to be in place for it to work.
Every piece of equipment connected to a Niagara station can open its own controls graphic — the same view your integrator built in the station — without leaving Huckleberry and without logging into a separate system.
You’ll find it on an equipment’s detail page and in the Facility Controls view. Where a graphic is available, the equipment carries a link to it; opening the link displays the graphic over the page, titled with the equipment it belongs to. Graphics can take a moment to load, and you’ll see a notice while that happens rather than a blank panel.
Graphics show what the station shows. If your integrator built the view to allow adjustments, you can make them here; if it’s a read-only display, it stays read-only. Huckleberry doesn’t add or remove control from the graphic.
What has to be in place
Five things have to line up. The first two are set up with you during onboarding; the last three are usually in your station already, and are the ones worth checking when a graphic doesn’t appear.
1. A connected station
The site needs a Niagara station configured in Huckleberry, with its address and credentials. This is the same connection that collects your equipment readings, so if you’re seeing live data from a site, the station is connected.
2. A graphics address, recorded separately
Huckleberry records two addresses for a station: the station address it reads data from, and the graphics address — the landing page your Px views are served from. They’re kept apart on purpose.
Don’t replace the station address with a link to a graphics page. They look interchangeable and they aren’t: the station address is what data collection uses, and pointing it at a graphics page silently stops readings coming in from that site. If you need the graphics location changed, ask us rather than editing the station address.
3. Equipment linked to its device in the station
Huckleberry has to know which component in the station a piece of equipment corresponds to. That link is made when your points are mapped. Equipment that was created by hand and never mapped to the station has nothing to open, and will say so.
4. A view assigned to the equipment in the station
This is the one that most often explains a missing graphic. Huckleberry links to the equipment’s own component, and Niagara displays whichever view is assigned to that component. If your integrator assigned a Px view to the component, it appears. If the graphic exists in the station but isn’t assigned to that component — it lives only in a folder, or it’s reachable from a menu page — there is nothing for the link to open.
Huckleberry verifies every link against the station before showing it, so an equipment either gets a graphic that works or no link at all. You will never be handed a link that lands on a station error page.
If your integrator assigns a view later, you don’t need to tell us. Equipment with no graphic is re-checked against the station about once a day, so new views are picked up on their own.
5. A reachable station
The station has to be online and reachable from Huckleberry at the moment you open the graphic. A station that’s down, or unreachable because of a network or firewall change, will report that it didn’t answer.
Signing in to the station
Where your station is hosted on a Huckleberry address, opening a graphic signs you in automatically — you go straight to the view.
Where your station is hosted on your own domain, your browser won’t carry a Huckleberry session across to it, so the graphic opens at the station’s own login page and you sign in with your station credentials. This is a limitation of how browsers scope sessions between domains, not a configuration mistake.
Niagara allows one session per user account. If the station already has a session open for your account — another tab, another machine, or a session that didn’t close cleanly — use Reconnect to sign out of the station and start fresh. Reconnect signs you out of the station itself, not just of Huckleberry, which is what clears a stuck session.
What the messages mean
| What you see | What it means |
|---|---|
| No facility controller | The client has no Niagara station configured. Nothing to open. |
| Not linked to Niagara | The station is connected, but this equipment isn’t mapped to a device on it. |
| No graphic found | The equipment is mapped, but its component has no view assigned in the station. See requirement 4 above. |
| Station unreachable | The station didn’t answer. It may be offline, or a network change may have cut the route. |
| Unable to open a session | The station answered but the sign-in didn’t complete. Often a stuck session — try Reconnect. |
If a graphic is missing and the equipment is mapped, the station is up, and the component has a view assigned, get in touch at info@huckleberryservices.com and we’ll take a look.
